Sika® Primer-490 T is a transparent 1-component solvent-based primer for improving the adhesion of Sikalastic®-490 T to glass and glazed surfaces. It is a system primer, not a universal primer for every substrate.
When should Sika Primer 490 T be selected?
Use Sika® Primer-490 T when the transparent polyurethane coating Sikalastic®-490 T is to be applied over glazed ceramic, glass or glass blocks. The primer activates and degreases the surface and improves the adhesion of the final transparent coating.

Preparation and application
The surface must be sound, clean, dry and free from detergents, oils, grease, salts, silicone, siloxanes and other chemicals that may impair adhesion. Sika® Primer-490 T is applied with a soaked clean, dry cloth by rubbing it over the entire surface. Avoid puddles of material and replace cloths frequently.
Important limitations
- The primer is intended for system use with Sikalastic®-490 T.
- The maximum substrate moisture must be up to 4% by weight.
- The temperature must be at least +3 °C above the dew point to reduce the risk of condensation and blistering.
- The optimum relative air humidity according to the TDS is 50–70%; high humidity may affect the final coating.

Please send the type of flooring or substrate, area, photos and whether Sikalastic®-490 T will be applied. If the substrate is not glass or glazed, different preparation or another system may be required.
