Topciment self-levelling floor coatings
Topciment XTREMFLOOR self-levelling materials serve two distinct purposes: preparing a level substrate and creating a decorative floor surface. Level Concrete levels the base before a subsequent covering; Level Decor is a decorative self-levelling material. Product selection and cost depend on area, average thickness and the condition of the floor.
Levelling base or decorative floor?
XTREMFLOOR Level Concrete prepares and levels interior floors before another covering. XTREMFLOOR Level Decor is a pigmentable material for a continuous decorative cementitious surface. The two products have different roles; appearance alone does not determine a suitable base layer.
What determines the cost per m²?
Thickness directly affects self-levelling material demand. Deeper irregularities require more material over the same area. A useful quotation separates the mortar, preparation, primer, required protection and installation. Specify whether the surface will remain decorative or receive microcement, flooring or another system.

What is the difference between a self-levelling compound, screed and microcement?
A self-levelling compound flows over a prepared substrate and is used within a specified thickness range. Depending on the product, it may be an underlayment beneath another flooring or a finished decorative floor. Not every self-levelling compound is designed to remain exposed.
Microcement is a thin decorative finish applied to an already prepared, level substrate. Conventional screed, a self-levelling underlayment and microcement have different functions. Start selection with the required thickness, substrate condition and planned final flooring.
What is the difference between Xtremfloor Level Concrete and Level Decor?
Xtremfloor Level Concrete is a cementitious self-levelling compound for preparing and levelling interior floors before compatible final flooring. It is intended for layers from 1 to 10 mm. Level Decor is a decorative self-levelling system for a finished floor layer, with an application thickness of 5 to 20 mm and the option of colouring.
Do not select between them solely by the maximum layer thickness. Service loading, substrate type and subsequent protection also matter. Level Concrete is not an equivalent substitute for decorative Level Decor.
Is Level Concrete suitable beneath an epoxy floor or in a car park?
Level Concrete must not be used beneath epoxy or polyurethane paints and coatings. It is not intended for industrial floors, car parks or exterior applications. The term “self-levelling” does not establish suitability for vehicles or every resin flooring system.
For a garage, warehouse or car park, specify loading, concrete condition, moisture and the complete flooring system. Level Decor has a different application scope but must also be specified for the project. Do not include an underlayment in a demanding system simply because it accepts another type of microcement.
Can a self-levelling compound be applied over tiles or underfloor heating?
This depends on the exact product. Level Decor has applications on suitably prepared substrates, including certain ceramic and mineral surfaces. Unstable tiles, hollow areas and contamination must be addressed; non-absorbent surfaces require the appropriate preparation and primer.
With underfloor heating, check every layer’s suitability, screed condition and the shutdown and gradual restart procedure. An underlayment’s heating compatibility does not mean every final coating above it is also suitable. Movement joints must be maintained.
Can a self-levelling compound create a fall towards a drain?
A self-levelling material is designed to flow and level, so it is not automatically suitable for forming controlled falls. A shower area, terrace or drained garage requires designed falls and a material suitable for forming them.
Before pouring, measure levels, the required minimum and maximum thickness, and clearances at doors and drains. Do not correct a large level difference by exceeding the permitted layer range. Levelling the floor does not itself resolve waterproofing or connections to drainage components.
How is self-levelling material consumption calculated?
Multiply the area by average thickness and the consumption rate in kg/m²/mm. For example, at a Level Concrete rate of 1.8 kg/m²/mm, an area of 20 m² at an average thickness of 3 mm has a theoretical requirement of 108 kg. With 25 kg packs, this means at least five packs before assessing any additional allowance for substrate conditions and losses.
Determine thickness from actual levels rather than assuming the thinnest point represents the whole floor. Do not automatically apply the Level Concrete rate to Level Decor. Calculate primer and final coatings separately.
When can the floor be walked on, and when can the final finish be applied?
Permitted foot traffic and readiness for a subsequent coating are different stages. A levelling layer may feel hard while retaining moisture that is unacceptable for the selected flooring or varnish. Timing depends on thickness, temperature, humidity and ventilation.
Before applying the finish, check residual-moisture and surface-preparation requirements. A short time to early foot traffic is not permission for immediate sealing, heavy loading or restarting the heating.
