SikaShield® P34 PE 4 kg/m² is an APP-modified bitumen waterproofing membrane with polyester reinforcement for balconies, terraces and roofs under a protective layer or ballast. It is a more robust base layer for multi-layer systems where the waterproofing will be protected with tiles, gravel or another roof/terrace build-up.
When to choose SikaShield P34 PE 4 kg/m²?
Choose SikaShield® P34 PE 4 kg/m² when you need a bitumen membrane for a terrace, balcony or roof that will be installed under a heavy protective layer. The TDS specifies use on balconies and terraces under tiles or gravel, as well as on flat and sloped roofs under a protective layer or ballast.

Important limitation: under a protective layer
SikaShield® P34 PE 4 kg/m² is not a mineral-finished membrane for permanent UV exposure. If the roof will remain exposed to sunlight, choose a cap sheet with mineral granules. If the system will be under tiles, gravel or another protective layer, P34 PE 4 kg/m² is the correct type of base layer.
Installation and substrate
The substrate must be uniform, firm, smooth, clean, dry and free from sharp protrusions, oils, grease, bitumen, dust and loose particles. After preparation, apply a suitable Sika primer, allow it to dry, and install the membrane by gas-torch heating of the substrate and the underside film.
Overlaps and design details
According to the TDS, side overlaps must be at least 100 mm and end overlaps at least 150 mm, unless otherwise specified by the manufacturer or the project design. On slopes above 15%, multi-layer roofs must be designed carefully and, where necessary, mechanical fixing should be allowed for.
