Sikagard®-552 W Aquaprimer is a 1-component water-dispersed primer for improving adhesion when applying water-based polymer coatings and paints. It is used on concrete and mineral substrates, as well as on existing water-based coatings with good adhesion, as part of concrete protection systems according to EN 1504-2.
When should you choose Sikagard 552 W Aquaprimer?
Choose Sikagard®-552 W Aquaprimer when the subsequent coating is water-dispersed, for example Sikagard®-5500, and a system primer is required for concrete, fibre cement, aerated concrete, gypsum or thin skim-coat compounds. If the subsequent coating is solvent-based, the TDS states that Sikagard®-551 S Elastic Primer must be used instead of this product.

Preparation and limitations
The substrate must be sound, free from poorly bonded particles, and have a tensile adhesion strength above 1 N/mm². New concrete must be at least 28 days old. Do not dilute the product. When used under cementitious renders or reprofiling compounds, the subsequent mortar must be applied while the primer is still tacky; if the primer has dried completely, apply a new coat.
Before ordering
Please specify which coating will be applied after the primer, whether the substrate is new concrete, a skim coat or an old coating, and whether the coating is water-based. This is important because Sikagard®-552 W Aquaprimer is not a universal primer for all coatings.
