Sikagard®-5500 RAL 7032 is a 1-component, water-based elastic protective coating for concrete with high crack-bridging ability. It is used for decorative and technical protection of new and existing concrete structures, reducing the penetration of CO2, chlorides and moisture into the concrete and reinforcement.
When should Sikagard 5500 be selected?
Choose Sikagard®-5500 when the concrete structure is at risk of cracking, cyclic movement, carbonation, weathering or chloride penetration. The product is suitable for facades, bridges, car parks, silos, chimneys, retaining walls and Sika repair systems where elastic protection is required rather than a rigid epoxy coating.

System primers and limitations
The system uses Sikagard®-552 W Aquaprimer or Sikagard®-551 S Elastic Primer with an indicative consumption of 0.10-0.15 kg/m². The substrate must be clean, dry and prepared; new concrete must be at least 28 days old. Sikagard®-5500 is resistant to humid weather conditions, but is not suitable for permanent contact with water, underwater use or horizontal surfaces where puddles form.
Before ordering
Please provide the area, whether the concrete is new or has an existing coating, the type of cracks, the exposure conditions and whether Sikagard®-552 W Aquaprimer or Sikagard®-551 S Elastic Primer will be applied. This allows the correct system and realistic consumption to be selected, rather than calculating only by litres.
