Sika® Rundschnur PE is a non-absorbent closed-cell polyethylene foam backer rod profile. It is used as a backer rod to achieve the correct joint depth before applying joint sealant.
When to choose Sika Rundschnur PE?
Choose Sika® Rundschnur PE when the joint depth must be controlled, sealant consumption reduced, and the correct joint cross-section formed. It is suitable for filling joints in accordance with DIN 18 540, floor joints, and connection joints.

How to use
The profile is placed at the required depth before the joint sealant is applied. Then follow the sealing and smoothing process for the selected Sikaflex product. When the correct diameter is selected, the profile helps the sealant work in the proper geometry instead of unnecessarily filling the full depth of the joint.
Important limitations
- Do not damage, cut, or puncture the profile during installation.
- Do not use sharp tools such as screwdrivers or knives for placement.
- Avoid excessive elongation or stretching of the profile.
- Select the diameter according to the actual joint width and the required sealant depth.
